WWF Earth Hour Penang - "Let's Off The Light!"

It starts from us...We are one who always make a move and difference!

Well,

For the first time, Penang is joining some other countries around the world in the WWF Earth Hour on March 28 2009, from 8.30am to 9.30am by switching off the light for an hour and cutting down the electrcity or energy used.

Association of Tourism Attractions (ATAP), Penang who chaired this first campaign in Penang together with WWF and Nukleus and some others organizations involved, such as SEGI College, Tropical Spice Garden, Impact Management, PPB Hartabina Sdn. Bhd., Penang Butterfly Farm, Queensbay Mall, Danai Spa, Komtar Scenic View, Lone Pine Hotel, Matta, Rapid Penang and Island Plaza urge Penangites to participate in this campaign on that particular day ONLY by switching off the light for ONLY one hour or any non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.

ABOUT EARTH HOUR

Earth hour began in Sydney in 2007 and this campaign goes success when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In the following year, 2008, this campaign had grown into global movement with 50 millions people switching off lights for one hour. For instance, famous landmarks like Sydney Opera House, Golden Gate Bridge and Coca-cola billboard in Times Square also all stood in darkness to show their supportive act in this global movement.

In year 2009, Earth Hour has been transformed into bigger global election and its going to make te first time in history, no matter who you are, from different races, ages, nationalities, background, WE"RE GOING TO STAND IN LINE to VOTE EARTH by switching off your light for 1 hour on 28th of March from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
